What is VGLI (Veterans’ Group Life Insurance)?

VGLI stands for Veterans’ Group Life Insurance. It’s a special life insurance program offered by the Department of Veterans Affairs that lets veterans convert their SGLI (Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance) coverage to a renewable term life insurance policy after leaving the military. With VGLI, veterans can keep valuable life insurance protection for themselves and their families, with coverage amounts typically matching what they had during active duty. VGLI is renewable for life, but premiums increase as you get older.
